I was wondering today what our church would be like if Jesus was
actually the pastor.  What would be different if He was here all the
time as the pastor instead of me?  I have to assume it would be a lot
different as I am far from perfect in any sense and especially not as a
pastor.  He, on the other hand, would be the perfect pastor.

Some things would likely be the same, though, except maybe more
so.  I think some people would be offended.  Jesus is gentle, true, but
not one to hold back when discussion of one's personal issues needs
to happen.  I shudder to think what might happen if He happens to
agree with the plainest reading of the scriptures regarding gender
roles.  Somehow, I cannot imagine the arguments to the contrary
coming out of the Lord's mouth.   Seems like He would have just said
that to start with if that's what He meant.  Anyway...

I know there would be a lot of people upset at business meetings.
"He just won't focus on the business at hand," I can hear them saying.

When church discipline becomes an activity rather than a topic, folks
are going to get huffy or worse.  I think there would be more  church
discipline, though, since Jesus came up with the idea and He'd
probably like to see how it might turn out in practice.

I know some would leave for a church where they can be fed.

We would have a better church if Jesus was pastor.  Maybe smaller
with less money.  But , oh, wouldn't our hearts burn within us!
