There are a lot of illusions out there.  Satan is the master illusionist and his conjuring makes
the likes of David Copperfield look like rank novices.  Satan charms otherwise intelligent
people to believe that good is bad, bad is good, and that beautiful is ugly.   Perhaps his best
trick is making the ugly appear to be beautiful;  certainly that has been one of his most
successful illusions.  Satan has this one down to the point that most people spend their entire
lives pursuing things which they truly believe to be beautiful and, usually upon  obtaining the
object of desire, they continue to believe themselves to possess an object of great beauty.  But
they don't.
Part of Satan's success in this is that most everyone else accepts the illusion, thus providing
tremendous support for continuing to be duped even upon catching a glimpse of the reality
behind the facade.  Wouldn't most people prefer to have something that everyone else wants
and finds gorgeous than what  he himself believes to be desirable that the rest don't?
So, someone needs to declare the reality and that would normally be the role of Christians.
However, we appear to be some of the greatest fans of Satan's traveling magic show and so
are unable to provide this service.  It wouldn't be so bad except that the illusion conceals death
like a lion disguised as a house cat.  Someone about to pet the lion would inspire most of us to
do all in our power to warn him - if we saw the lion.  However, most of us find ourselves
stunned, pulling back a bloody stump from the lovely house cat.  So, the lost cat lover is
doomed, and will lose much more than an arm.
