How much do you trust Jesus?  There is an easy way to measure your trust.  To the degree that you
experience fear you are lacking in trust in the Lord.  He is the one who said many times, “fear not!”  The only
thing that anyone should fear is the One who can pour His wrath out and cast both body and soul into Hell, so
it follows that the one who is safe in that regard should fear nothing.   The one who is in Christ need not fear
the wrath of God because for the one in Christ that wrath has been utterly spent on Christ Himself on the
cross.

There is, of course, a sense in which Christians continue to fear God.  We should fear His discipline, we
should fear that we might make a shipwreck of our faith, and we should fear that we might waste some portion
of our lives on what appear to be good but are rather lesser pursuits than the good fullness of God’s glory.
But, that fear is not the same as the fear of the person who does not have the covering of Christ’s blood.

So, what do you fear fellow Christian?   Inflation?  War?  Natural disaster?  Sickness?  Criminal violence?
Want?   Please, remember that we do not receive those fears from God.  We get those fears from our own
disbelief in the promises of God.  Inflation, war, disaster, sickness, want, or violence will likely come our way
from time to time and eventually they or some other will end our time in this place.  God, however, has
promised to be in control of these and all events and He has promised to be with us through them all.  He has
promised to deliver us from the ultimate consequences of these and all things that would do us harm.  The
weapon used against us may appear to destroy but in reality no such weapon can prosper against us at all
because we trust Jesus.

Such is the promise of the living God.
