The Biblical phrase "every wind of doctrine" has been much on my
mind of late.  I took some time to look at some of the Christian blog
offerings
that are out there and I was amazed at the variety.  I have also read a
fairly good sample of popular Christian books over the last few years.
There are so many websites, radio and television programs,
newsletters, and recordings of various types that one could never
even begin to know what the majority of them are called much less be
familiar with what they say.
I have heard the statement made by more than one Christian that
they have felt the need to read only the Bible for some period of time
during their lives.  I would never suggest that as a necessity, but I
think I am starting to understand their rationale.
While the assumption seems to be that all this interaction (you get to
talk back immediately to the bloggers and almost as quickly to
"old-fashioned" websites) and communication is good, I wonder.  Can
it be good that the unsaved person exposed to all this will surely find
it extremely difficult to piece together anything coherent?   Our
opponents will find ammunition for a garrison with little effort.
Churches will have and are having confusion about faith, practice,
and more.
While we may not need to do more than use discernment (a gift for
which we surely should all be praying now) in our reading, we may
want to consider using only the Bible for ordering our churches for
some period of time - and perhaps our lives.
