The Garden

Hi Weight Watchers!

Hope you are having a great week so far!  We had great meetings in Muskogee on Monday & Tuesday!  We have started selling the monthly pass.  It is such a great deal!  You not only save money but you get e-tools for free!  E-tools is the on-line program on www.weightwatchers.com.  You will love the many features e-tools offers us as members.  I use it regularly!  I love the Recipe Builder, the message boards, and the wonderful recipes that I have access to.  Email me with any questions you have about the monthly pass or anything else!  You can email me directly from our WW page on this web site.  I look forward to hearing from you!

We are discussing the W.W. Garden of Success in our meetings this week.  Always remember to nurture yourself!  You are important and worth it.  If you want to flourish and reach your Winning Outcome at Weight Watchers you must take care of yourself!!!

Most people know a little something about the first garden ever…….the Garden of Eden.  When I think about Adam & Eve’s first home I usually think about how beautiful it must have been!  They were living in all the splendor of Eden and all of their needs were met.  God walked with them in the cool of the evening and they could eat from any of the trees in the garden except for one.

Satan is very clever and he had a plan.  The serpent asked the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1)  The woman replied with, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” (Genesis 3:2-3)

Eve knows that the garden is lavish in its provision for her need and that one tree doesn’t make all that much difference but she still allows the serpent to trick her.  Satan focuses her attention on that one forbidden tree.  He wants her to doubt God.

Eve ends up focusing on that one tree rather than looking at the garden full of goodness, God’s wonderful fellowship and His awesome provision.  She looks at that ONE tree.  The more she looks the more appealing it becomes.

Satan has used this scheme over and over throughout history.  I bet we have all seen it…..probably in our own lives.  Satan uses strategy to tempt us.  He wants us to doubt God and to think that God is keeping something good from us.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God wants only good for us.  He has our best interest at heart.  He wants us to succeed and to enjoy that success.  He truly wants to give us the desires of our heart.

When Satan tempts you with food that is not good for you or tries to get you to give up on yourself and to quit, look up and ask God to help you to stand against Satan and his evil schemes.

God is good (all the time!!!) and you & I were created in His own image.  Let’s “bloom” and flourish in the garden He has placed us in.

I love you!  May God bless you beyond measure!

See you in a WW meeting soon!!!  I will be there……won’t you?

Change

Hi Weight Watchers!

I hope you are having a good week!  We are having fabulous meetings this week because you guys are really sharing & participating and I love it!  Thank you for your valuable insights.  In our meetings this week we are discussing the levels of change that we go through in our weight loss journeys.  It is an important topic and I hope you will be able to attend a meeting this week!

I know my life has certainly changed since I joined Weight Watchers years ago!  I make healthier food choices now.  I exercise regularly & love it!  I eat smaller portions.  I drink lots of water!  I cook differently.  My identity has changed.  I believe in myself and on & on.  My life, as a WW, has been full of changes.  The changes have been good.

The three phases of the CHANGE PROCESS include “Not Ready”, “Ambivalent”, and “Ready”.  The process is not a smooth one with a straight line.  We sometimes find ourselves, when it comes to weight loss, fluctuating from stage to stage.  That is ok.  We can help each other move through the levels of change.

Life is filled with change.  We change homes, schools, careers, relationships, etc throughout our lives.  Not all change is by choice…..some of it is.  If tragedy strikes in our lives, we are changed forever.  A dissolved marriage, career changes, financial losses, a friendship that ends, or a negative family situation can all be devastating changes.  Some changes are good and others not so good but life is filled with them.  There are things we can change and things we cannot change.  There is the unchangeable, the irreversible.  Sometimes we long to go back and begin all over again but that is impossible, of course.

As a Christian, I believe that our God is the Lord of change!  He will be with us IN change!  We must trust Him.  Sometimes I guess it is easier to trust Him with our eternal fate than to trust Him to provide next month’s car payment, to work out a new relationship, to help us through a stressful situation, or to assist us with our weight loss journeys.

Sometimes our lives seem to whirl around us!  We are facing changes almost daily.  As I said before, some of the change in life is positive but not always.  It is enormously reassuring to know that God is unchanging.  Malachi 3:6 says “I the Lord do not change.”  I love Hebrews 13:8 that says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”  He never changes!

Yes, life is filled with changes & choices.  I choose to take care of my body God has blessed me with.  I love being able to do that with a group of wonderful people like you.  I believe that God has placed me in this special family for a reason.  I thank Him for it.  You are blessings in my life!  We want to make the right choices when it applies to weight loss.  The best choice you will ever make is Jesus Christ.  He will take you through all the CHANGES of life.  He can CHANGE your life.

I love you and that, my friends, will never change.

May I help you?

Greetings one & all!

It is a beautiful day!  Hot…..but beautiful!  Hope this finds you happy & well!  Some of you know that I have poison ivy.  It is better, but not totally gone.  I started a new prescription this morning.  Please say a prayer for me!  I am ready to be poison ivy free!!!  I am so blessed though…..this is a small thing really.

How do you respond when you are in a store, library, etc and someone asks “may I help you?”  I almost always say “yes” because I usually need help.  If I am just browsing in a store or whatever I may say “no, thank you” but if I need help I say so.  My sons are very different.  They make me laugh!  Whenever we are out shopping together and we are looking for a particular item they always want to try to find it themselves before asking for help.  If we are approached by an employee and asked if we need help they do not want me to say yes……..yet.  They want to first try to locate it in their own and then if we get desperate enough we will ask for help.  Is that just a “guy thing???”  Maybe not.

I wonder how often God asks us this same question…….”may I help you?”  Maybe He is asking if there are any mountains in our lives that we need help in moving today.  Maybe He is asking if we need help in dealing with the stress that is weighing us down.  Maybe He is asking if we need help with our weight-loss efforts.  Sometimes these situations or mountains can loom so large before us that we are no longer able to see Jesus.

Have you read Mark 11:22-24 lately?  It reads, “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.  “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

When Jesus asks, “May I help you?” He wants us to respond in childlike trust.  He really wants US to ask for His help.  Sometimes Jesus answers in a truly miraculous way, but most of the time He simply opens our eyes and shows us what WE can do to bring about the answer.  Then He gives us the strength and ability to do it.

Jesus is truly our Great Helper!  When He asks, “may I help you?”  Say yes to Him!  Ask Him for help.  He wants us to!  Jesus stands ready & willing to help us…….even with our weight-loss challenges.  I love knowing that He cares about every detail of our lives.  Don’t you?

I care about you & I love you!  As your WW leader & friend I want to help you.

Relish the moment and rejoice in it!

August 3, 2006 on 6:23 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi everyone!

Hope you are having a good OP (On Program) week!  I am!

Several of you attended our 25th wedding anniversary celebration on Saturday and I want to say thank you!!!  Having you there made it even more special.  It was a wonderful day!  I thank God for a Christian husband and a lasting marriage.  God is good!

In our meetings this week we are talking about this “train ride” we are on together and how important it is to enjoy the journey.  I heard once that “success is a journey, not a destination.”

We are discussing the different mileposts we come upon as members and how important each one is.  Remember to recognize even the smallest successes and to enjoy where you are right now.  Many of us wait until we get to goal weight to begin enjoying our life but every day is a gift from God and should be lived to the fullest.

Psalm 118:24 reminds us that:  “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”  Let us rejoice and be glad in THIS day!

“Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice!”  Philippians 4:4

Rejoice if you just recently joined our WW family!  Rejoice if you just lost your first 5 lbs!  Rejoice when you get the first star on your bookmark!  Rejoice when you hit your 10% target!  Rejoice, rejoice, and again I say rejoice!

Live each day to the fullest.  Enjoy the journey!  Every day is a gift from God and we should enjoy where we are at this point in our weight loss journey.  Maybe it is not where we want to stay but we can stop and smell the roses and enjoy the blessings of this special day in our lives.

Let us learn to relish the moment and to rejoice in the Lord……always!

See you at a meeting soon!

Hugs,

Dana

You are not alone!

Hi Weight Watchers!

How are you doing today?  I am having a great day!  I got up early today and have been busy here at home ever since!  It is a beautiful day and I am thankful to have time to write to you.

In our meetings this week we are discussing the value of group support.  I joined WW for the support.  I joined with a friend down in Texas and we supported each other and found support at the meeting.  The group support attracted me to Weight Watchers and it keeps me coming to this day.

In the book “Weight Loss That Lasts” Dr. James M. Rippe sites a study that was published in the “Journal of the American Medical Association”:

The study showed that the number of Weight Watchers meetings a person attended was highly predictive of total weight loss.  In fact, those who attended more than 80% of meetings held during the two-year study lost more than twice as much weight as people who attended less regularly.  The reason for this is simple:  spending time with and learning from the experiences of others who are also losing weight is very important to accomplishing weight goals.

Dr. Rippe goes on to say:

Weight loss does not have to be a solo event.  There are benefits to be gained and benefits that can be shared with the people you care about.

*Consider opening up to the people around you.  Explain to them how important losing weight is for you and be specific about how they can best help you.

*Create your team to lose weight.  Team up with people with whom you feel comfortable and who you are confident will encourage your efforts.

*Live in a healthy weight home.  Be a role model to your spouse and your children.  By following the lifestyle habits that will lead you to sustained weight loss, you’ll be influencing their food and exercise behaviors as well.

*Recognize and celebrate the health-related changes in the quality of life that come with weight loss!

Support is valuable to me whether it is in our WW meeting room, at home, or at church.  The Bible tells us to edify one another.  Edification is the building up and encouraging of each other.

Romans 14:19 says:  Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

Hebrews 3:13 says:  But encourage one another daily…..

Hebrews 10:25 says:  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us enourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

To neglect church gatherings & Christian meetings is to give up the encouragement and help of other Christians.  When we gather together with fellow believers we are sharing our faith and strengthening one another in the Lord.  As we get closer to the “Day” we will face many more struggles and even times of persecution.  As difficulties arise we should make an even greater effort to be faithful in meeting together.

As Weight Watchers, we have struggles and difficult times as we travel this road but we can meet together and encourage one another.  Do not neglect the gathering together of your WW family!  It is important and can make a difference in your weight-loss success.

I love knowing that this is not a solo event!  We have each other and we have our Heavenly Father!  What a team!

I pray that you are having a wonderful week!  I will plan to see you in a meeting soon!!!  I will be there…..will you?

I love you,

Dana

P.S.  If you haven’t heard…..Dale & I are celebrating 25 years of marriage this Sat. at 2 pm at the Tulledega Hills Baptist Church in Henryetta.  We will have a concert at 2 pm and will renew our vows immediately following the wonderful singing.  A reception will follow the vows with WW friendly food items!!!  :)   I was taught that whenever something special happens in your life you include your family in the celebration so that is exactly what I am doing…..I am inviting you…..my Weight Watchers’ family!  Hope to see you there!  Email me for the directions to the church……it is easy to get to!

Are we learning from our experiences?

July 21, 2006 on 3:23 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi everyone!

Remember me???  :)   I know it has been awhile since I last posted.  I was at church camp from July 10th-July 15th.  We had a wonderful time but I did miss all of you!

Boy……it is hot today!  How is your exercise program coming along?  If you are exercising outside try going early or late in the day before it gets too hot.  Remember to stay well hydrated.  Drink lots of water!  I walked 31 miles at church camp last week!!!  I wore my WW pedometer!  Fun, fun, fun!!!  I loved watching those miles add up!  I am beginning the Tulsa Run walking progam next week.  If you are interested in walking the Tulsa Run with me on Nov. 11th go to www.tulsarun.com to print off the 16 week walking program.  Let’s “walk the run” together this fall!  It is so motivating to have a 9.3 mile race as a goal!  We will have so much fun doing this together!  I am excited!!!

In our meetings this week we are discussing how important it is to learn from experience.  Yes, we will be faced with many weight loss obstacles as we travel this road but we do not have to keep falling off into the same “hole!”  If you have already attended a meeting this week you know what I am talking about.

I have recently read a book by Carole Lewis called Back On Track.  It is an excellent book and I highly recommend it.  She shares her own struggles and shortcomings in the book.  She chronicles her 16-week spiritual and weight-loss journey which is highlighted by her diary of the failures, tips, temptations, and victories she learned along the way.

During the 16-week journey she says she derailed four times.  She shares what happened and what she learned about herself.  In chapter 1 she shares her first derailment with vegetable tempura.  Here is what she learned from that experience:

“I don’t make good choices when I’m tired.”

She discovered three things she can do the next time she is tempted when she is tired:

1.  “Tell God I’m tired and ask for His strength.”

2.  “Decide what I will eat before going inside the restaurant.”

3.  “Excuse myself and go into the rest room, asking someone to order for me, so I am not tempted to change my mind.”

On weeks 9 and 10 she said she dabbled with a box of cookies that were left at her house.  She learned from her cookie escapade:

“I get off track when I eat in secret.”

She learned five things from this cookie derailment:

1.  “What I eat in secret is there for the entire world to see what a fool I am.”

2.  “Secret eating is the most lethal kind of derailment.  I can be good when someone is watching, but I can get off track fast when I eat in secret.”

3.  She decided that her way of escape was to tell her husband or best friend what she was doing.  “They would have gotten rid of the cookies for me.”

4.  “Don’t open the first cellophane wrapper of anything that you know is delicious.  Leave the food in the wrapper!”

5.  “My mind is the battlefield that the enemy used in the cookie derailment.  I knew that those cookies were still available.  Once I started thinking about them, eating them wasn’t far behind.”

She derailed a third time during the 16 week journey.  This time it was chocolates and nuts.  She discovered:  “My mind is filled with warm memories related to food.”

Her learnings:

1.  “Getting off track is easy when memories are tied to unhealthy foods.”

2.  “If I stop to thank God for the sweet memories and ask for His strength, He will help me break the connection between the memory and the food.”

3.  “I derive comfort from soft and creamy foods.  If I have candy around during a bleak, sad time, I am setting myself up for a derailment—actually, candy is hard for me to resist anytime.”

The 4th derailment had to do with 2 lbs of pecans that were sent to her as a Christmas gift.  She said that God was faithful and used the pecans to teach her still more truths.  “Here are two things I learned about our enemy, the devil:”

“He knows our weakness and he wants us to fail.”

She learned these 5 things:

1.  “Run to God when we suspect that the enemy is trying to get us off track.”

2.  “Ask God for help and for the wisdom to stop.  Better still, ask God for help before we start!”

3.  “Take the way of escape.”

4.  “Remember:  Don’t open the cellophane!”

5.  “Keep filling out the accountability journal.  Once I stopped filling out my journal (during the 15th week), my accountability went out the window.”  (Carole recommends an accountability journal in her book.)

Are you learning from the experience when you get ”off track?”  Figure out what “derailed” you so you do not get derailed in the same way again, get back ”on track” and continue on your journey.  Yes, we sometimes feel like we have lost some battles, but with God we can win the war!  We must allow God to have control.  Let Him help you learn from the situation & get back on track.  He loves us so much and He is standing ready and willing to help us.  Turn to Him!

See you in a meeting soon!  Hope you know how much I love and care about each and everyone of you.

Hugs,

Dana

Attention Walkers!!!

July 6, 2006 on 3:57 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi Weight Watchers!

I hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July!  We had a great day!   I made good food choices and walked 3+ miles.  I hope you are proud of the way you handled the holiday.

Last week in all of our WW meetings (except for Friday noon when we ran out of time) I talked about a 1/2 Marathon in Jenks this fall that I planned to participate in.  I invited you guys to join me in this endeavor.  Several of you expressed an interest………which tickled me!!!

I have contacted the 1/2 marathon organizer and found out that there will be a definite time limit due to a scheduling conflict.  Apparently Jenks H.S. will be involved in a big event that day and the 1/2 marathon begins & ends at the H.S. track.  I do not know what the cut-off time will be but since it is a running event and we are walking, the time may not work for us.  I have visited with the organizer of this year’s Tulsa Run (it is Sat., Nov. 11th) and asked about a group of us walking in that race.  She was thrilled!  She said they are really trying to encourage walkers to participate this year.  In fact, Denise Brewer (formerly of Channel 8) is leading the walkers on race day.  She is also leading training sessions on Sunday mornings in Tulsa.

The Tulsa Run is a 15K (9.3 miles)……not a 1/2 marathon but challenging (for sure!).  If you want to participate but feel that a 15K is not for you, they do offer a 5K race that you might consider doing.  The 5K race begin at 8:30 am and the 15K for walkers begins at 9:10 am.  The roads will be opened back up to traffic at noon so we will need to “step-it up”!  We can do it!!!

I know I have given a few of you the 16 week schedule for walking a 1/2 marathon.  It would certainly work for this race as well.  If you want to check out a TulsaRun training program that Hillcrest Medical Center offers you can log on to www.tulsarun.com and click on “training”.  Then click on “week-by-week training program”. You will then click on 15K or 5K and that will take you to the weekly program.  Click on the current date to see where to pick up with the training schedule.  I think if we make sure we walk the times & distance given each week we will be okay.  If you choose to do other activities and weight training, along with the walking, the information is included in the training schedule.

We will talk more about this when I see you in our WW meetings.  I hope if you were planning to do the 1/2 Marathon that you will be able to do the Tulsa Run instead.  I think it will be the best option for us.

Are you WALKING with the Lord today?  I sure hope so!  Deuteronomy 10:12 reminds us, “And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to WALK in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”

I love Psalm 119:45:  “I will WALK about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.”

1 John 1:7 is another favorite of mine:  “But if we WALK in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

I absolutely love Isaiah 40:31:  “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will WALK and not be faint.”

Walking is good and walking with the Lord is the best!!!  I am so thankful to know that He is walking by my side everyday.  What a blessing!

Have fun walking this week!  Email me if you have any questions about the Tulsa Run or training for it.  We will talk more about it in upcoming meetings too!  I am excited!  Are you?

May God richly bless you as you WALK with Him!

Dana

Let Freedom Ring!!!

July 3, 2006 on 9:24 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi WW family!

Can you believe that July is here???  Tomorrow is July 3rd and we will be open for meetings in Muskogee.  All meetings are closed on Tues., July 4th.  Are you gearing up for a big celebration with family and friends?  As I type this I can hear firecrackers popping outside……our neighbors are celebrating tonight.  I enjoy the 4th of July with the fireworks, watermelon, and family fun!

Remember to plan ahead for the big day.  Use some or all of your 35 WPA if you need them…..it is ok!  Exercise early in the day before the festivities begin and before it gets too hot.  If that is not possible maybe you can slip in a late evening workout.  Remember that your Activity Points can be converted to more food points.  Do you have a special WW recipe that you plan to try on the holiday?  I have two great ideas that will be posted in the meeting room this week.  The recipes will be on our web site late this week.  We are having problems with our computer program but will have it fixed soon…..I promise!

Remember to eat small portions, play a lot, focus on the reason we are celebrating and on your family and friends.  Stick to your chosen plan, whether it is Flex or Core, and you will be so glad you did!  Please remember………we do not have to overeat to celebrate a holiday!  Celebrate in style and stick to the TurnAround program!!!

As Weight Watchers we have the freedom to stick to our chosen plan and still indulge a little but just a little!  You have to love that……I do!!!

Talk about freedom……….we truly have freedom in Christ Jesus!  Psalm 118:5 says, “In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free.”

Galatians 5: 13 says, “You, my brothers, were called to be free.  But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather, serve one another in love.”

We have been set free from sin!  Romans 6:18 reads, “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”

John 8:32 says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We enjoy many freedoms!  I love the freedom I have as an American.  I also enjoy the freedom we have as Weight Watchers.  I love not feeling deprived and knowing that I can enjoy my favorites while sticking to the plan.  As a Christian, I enjoy the freedom I have in Christ Jesus.  John 8:36 tells me, “So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Let freedom ring!!!  Have a safe, healthy, and happy 4th of July!!!

Hope to see you in a meeting this week!  Until then………..

Dana

Positive Affirmations

June 22, 2006 on 3:22 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi everyone!

Hope this finds you enjoying the first day of summer!  I am really enjoying my day.  I love having a chance to post a message to you guys!

We are discussing positive affirmations in our WW meetings this week.  We are focusing on how important positive self-talking is and how we must believe our goal is desirable, worth it, and that we are capable of achieving it.  It says in God’s word that “as a man thinketh, so is he.”

Romans 12:2 says to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  In a book I am currently reading called ”Becoming the Woman I Want To Be”, the author Donna Partow says, “The way to transform your mind is not by trying to rid yourself of the garbage you’ve been fed over the years and the negative thinking patterns that have held you captive in the past.  Instead, deliberately turn your attention to the positive…..renew your mind with the truth of God’s word.”   She says that she heard someone say that what most of us need is brainwashing, using God’s word as the soap.

In the book, the author includes a daily affirmation (a positive statement of Biblical truth).  She states that it is not enough to simply read it daily.  She enourages her readers to recite the affirmation aloud, over & over, until it begins to transform you from the inside out.  She states, “As you fill your mind with the truth about who God is and all the good things he has done in the past and desires to do in the future, the negative will eventually get washed away.”

This is the positive affirmation I am currently reciting:  “I forget those things that are behind me, including all of my personal shortcomings in the area of spiritual disciplines, diet, and exercise.  I am pressing toward what lies ahead:  a bright future filled with health in my spirit, soul, and body.”  (Based on Philippians 3:13 and from Ms. Partow’s book)

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.  May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.”  1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

May God pour out His blessing on you this week!  See you in a meeting soon!

I love you,

Dana

Just say “No!”

June 15, 2006 on 9:13 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Hi everyone!

Hope you are having a wonderful week!  I am.  I have really been enjoying my outdoor walks this week.  Nathan, our 13 year old, has been sharing his ipod with me.  He created an awesome playlist just for me & I appreciate it so much.  Many of my favorite Christian songs are included and it is so refreshing to head out the door early in the day with uplifting music.  I love enjoying God’s beautiful creation while I walk and talk to my heavenly Father.

In our meetings this week we are discussing the ”Voices of Summer”………summertime foods that “call our name” & people who try to get us to give in and over indulge when we do not want to.  We are learning how to use our voice to respond in a successful way.  We are also discussing ways to successfully seek support on our weight loss journeys.  If you have not attended a WW meeting yet this week, I hope you will make a point to do so.  I always leave the meeting excited and ready to meet the challenges of a new week!

In Stan Toler’s book “Minute Motivators for Dieters” he says that “trying to lose weight without using any self-control is like trying to ride a bicycle without handlebars.  You may get on down the road a bit, but soon there’s going to be a crash.”  He says that “you will never be in control of your weight or your health–or any other area of your life–until you learn to control yourself.  That begins by learning to say “No!”

I shared in meetings before that “No!” is a complete sentence but “No, thank you.” is a polite, complete sentence.  We sometimes have to say NO…….sometimes to the ice cream that is sitting in the freezer and sometimes to a well-meaning friend or relative who is trying to coax us into abandoning our weight loss plan for the day.  We have to assert ourselves.  (More about the Asserting Tool for Living in our meetings this week.)

Mr. Toler also says, “Self-control begins in the mind.  You make some mental choices.  Option A or Option B.  Which has long-term spiritual, physical, social, or financial benefits?  Then, you put up some ‘fences’ for your own safety.  You keep certain foods or certain behaviors out of your life—for your own protection.  If you want to lose weight, be “in the ‘No!’ ”

Proverbs 16:32 reads:  “It is better to be slow-tempered than famous; it is better to have self-control than to control an army.”

When it comes to losing weight and maintaining it for a lifetime, I want to be “in the No!”  Don’t you?

See you in a meeting!!!

Hugs,

Dana
